I retired early from the Department of Physics at the University of Warwick, where I held a broad-focused appointment encompassing senior administration, active research, and lecturing. Prior to my academic career, I was a semiconductor scientist (Plessey) specialising in the most advanced silicon CMOS technology. In this capacity, I established deep expertise with core fabrication methodologies, including photolithography, chemical vapour deposition (CVD), plasma processing, and epitaxy. The advanced production tools from my industrial tenure now serve as baseline pillars in cutting-edge university research.
